Three people have been indicted on prostitution charges in McLennan County.

The women and one man have been indicted for aggravated promotion of prostitution stemming from a prostitution sting conducted by McLennan County Sheriff's Office on Feb. 21, 2018.

According to the affidavit, the McLennan County Sheriff's Office responded to an advertisement for prostitution on Backpage.com, a popular website used to for classifieds.

After speaking with a woman, later identified as Haqikah Kerr, an agreement was made that the law enforcement official would have sex with three women for $300 dollars.

Kerr arrived at 330 Austin Ave. to carry out the sexual acts.

After making contact with her, the law enforcement official noticed Kerr's black iPhone, which he would later use to confirm their communication with each other.

Sitting in the front seat of a truck Kerr was driving was a man, Andrea Shorter, who was observed wearing pants with the word pimp stitched on them and $400 dollars in his pocket.

In the backseat of the vehicle were three women and Shorter's 3-year-old son.

The women told the McLennan County Sheriff's Office they were on their way to Dallas with Kerr and Shorter and were unaware of why they were stopped.

Kerr and Shorter were both arrested for engaging in organized criminal activity, a predicate offense of aggravated promotion of prostitution, and endangering a child.

The three women in the truck were released at the scene.

Kerr and Shorter were both taken to the McLennan County Jail.

Shorter also had a warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon from Harris County.

During the search of Kerr's phone, several messages, emails and photos were found of Kerr and Shorter discussing pimping women.

From the phone search, deputies were able to identify a third person, Quita Nichols, who also has an ad on Backpage.

The original location where the sexual acts were supposed to happen was at Nichols' apartment.

Deputies made contact with the management company for the apartment complex and were able to confirm the unit was the apartment of Nichols. She was also indicted for aggravated promotion of prostitution.
