A woman stealing about $65 worth of merchandise assaulted an HEB loss prevention officer with a bag of frozen seafood when she was caught, police said.

Waco police said 35-year-old Lakreshea Nashae Waggoner was captured in the parking lot of the HEB at 1821 S. Valley Mills Dr. around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday night.

Before leaving the store, Waggoner was approached by the loss prevention officer. She hit him with a bag of frozen seafood. The officer was also pushed and had minor injuries.

Police said her arrest went from a class C misdemeanor for stealing the merchandise to a second-degree felony robbery charge when she assaulted the officer.

She was taken to jail and released Thursday morning on a $7,500 bond.
