Today Waco ISD held it's ribbon cutting ceremony for Veterans Field at the Waco ISD Sports Complex. The public was invited to attend to celebrate the completion of the brand new turf infield, which is a matrix synthetic turf system.
Waco ISD is just one of a handful of schools in Central Texas that is able to play their home games on a turf field which allows them to play in rain or shine, with the exception of lightening.
'"It allows us to utilize the field and get some revenue for the school district and all around makes it a better athletic program because you are doing things for the kids that provide more opportunities", says Waco ISD Athletics Director Johnny Tusa.
The field is officially open for use.
