Temple Wildcat Athletics is excited to announce Coach Dexter Knox is returning to the Temple High School Football coaching staff as the Assistant Head Football Coach.

Coach Knox served as Temple’s Football Coaching Staff from 2014-2016, coaching in the 2014 and 2016 UIL 5A Division 1 State Football Championship.

While previously at Temple, he was also the Head Girls Track Coach.

Last season, Coach Knox served as the Football Defensive Coordinator and Head Boys Track Coach at Sweetwater High School.

"I’m very excited that Coach Stewart gave me an opportunity to come back home and be a part of the tradition and work for a great man and be on a great staff with other coaches that understand what we’re trying to do," Knox said. "I’m very excited and thankful for the opportunity."

For Knox, who grew up in Gatesville, coming back to Temple is a homecoming.

"I’m excited to be a part of the Wildcat tradition again," Knox said. "It always felt like where I was supposed to be so I’m glad to come back home."

Coach Knox is also excited to work with Temple students again, and will be reunited with the incoming seniors and juniors he previously coached. "I love the kids in Temple, they’re great kids and I love working with them," Knox said. "There’s just something special about Temple kids that you love."

Coach Knox’s first day back in Wildcat Blue is May 14.
