A woman was arrested after police said she stabbed her boyfriend after he chose to ignore an argument.

Bellmead police said the incident happened on early Tuesday morning at 2:24 a.m. on the 2000 block of Montrose. Police said the victim, 36, was attacked by his girlfriend, identified as 49-year-old Theresa Lopez. The victim received a cut during the argument and was able to get away from Lopez by locking himself in a room.

Police said the victim and his girlfriend were arguing throughout the day. When he chose to ignore the argument and go to sleep, he woke up to Lopez making stabbing motions toward him with a knife.

Lopez was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
