Many people in Central Texas and around the world take an oath as they enter their profession. Waco physician Dr. Paul Claiborne is one of them.

Dr. Claiborne works at Waco Surgical Associates at Providence and stresses the Hippocratic Oath he took when he became a doctor, is the commitment between him and the patient. "It's a commitment of trust and it's our way to verify the trust that people give to us when we take care of them," he says.

Dr. Claiborne adds he spends most of his time building relationships and wants to put some clarity on a certain TV and/or movie stereotype.

"The idea of the eccentric physician or brash surgeon is really not the reality. The reality is you're creating relationships every day," he says.

Dr. Claiborne has been a doctor for nearly six years. He spent the first years of his career in Tulsa before he and his family moved to Central Texas last August. He says his wife and children as his primary support system.
