One of the four people killed after a man opened fire in a Waffle House in Nashville has Texas ties

The Austin American Statesman reported that Joe Perez Jr. was identified by Metropolitan Nashville police. Perez was from Texas and had family from the Austin area.

Police said that suspect Travis Reinking, 29, was charged with four counts of criminal homicide. He was wanted for the murder of four at an Antioch Waffle House on Sunday. Police said he killed Perez, 20, DeEbony Groves, 21, Akilah DaSilva, 23, and Taurean Sanderlin, 29 when he opened fire with an assault rifle. He also injured four others.

Reinking was taken into custody Monday. He was found with a semi-automatic weapon in his backpack.

Officials said that Reinking's firearm license was revoked after previous arrests, but that his father returned the guns to him.
