The nation is mourning the passing of former first lady Barbara Bush and Central Texas is no different.

Barbara Rusling Lloyd crossed paths with Bush a half dozen times when the former first lady was campaigning for her son, former president Goerge W. Bush. At the time George W. was running for governor and Lloyd was campaigning for the state legislature.

Both Lloyd and George W. would win those elections.

"I think she was ready to go. And I think she had a very full life. She touched a lot of other people's lives in a very positive way. I'm getting a little teary. I think that she was ready to go. She wasn't afraid to die. I think she did it in a dignified way which is how she lived her life," said Lloyd.

Lloyd is now a realtor in Waco.
