Killeen man charged in federal complaint after robbing bank

The FBI said that they have filed a federal criminal complaint against a 44-year-old Killeen man for robbing a bank in Killeen in April.

The complaint said that John Russell Lightner forcibly robbed the First National Bank located at 4304 E Central Texas Expressway.

Police said Lightner walked into the bank and approached the teller and handed them a note demanding money. The teller complied, and he fled on foot.

Lightner remains in federal custody and has a hearing set for May 22 Lightner could face up to 20 years in federal prison.

This investigation is being conducted by the FBI with assistance from Killeen Police Department and the Harker Heights Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Greg Gloff is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
