Heavy rain leads to more road closures in ETX

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

Road closures are being reported in East Texas.

In Smith County, County Road 354, off of FM 16, is closed due to high water over the road. The road, southeast of Winona is barricaded.

Also in Smith County, as of 3 p.m. on Thursday:

Seven Smith County roads have been closed to traffic because of high water.
County Roads 354, 2180, 2138, 420, 421, 113 and 129 have been barricaded and closed to drivers until the water over the roadways recedes.
Residents are warned to take alternate routes. 

Due to recent rains, the City of Tyler Water Utilities is temporarily closing all public boat ramps on Lake Tyler and Lake Tyler East.

According to the Upshur County Sheriff's Office, there are several roads closed as of February 21 due to weather conditions:

Begonia at PR 2220
Bison at Little Cypress Creek
Cherokee Trace west of Bradford Street
Poplar west of FM2685
Snapdragon at Nasturtium
Gardenia at Little Cypress Creek
Gorilla Rd.
Old White Oak Rd. behind Alert Academy 
Mule Deer Rd.
Goldfinch at Grouse

The City of Hallsville has reported that Moore Lane will be closed until further notice due to a washout.  The city is asking that citizens take an alternate route. 

According to Wood County Sheriff Tom Castloo, the Lake Fork Reservoir has opened the gates on the dams, increasing the potential of high water in roads such as: CR 2100, Texas 37 (south of Quitman), FM 1254, FM 49 and U.S. 80. In addition, CR 4730, CR2954 and CR 2724 are all closed in Wood County.

Castloo reminds drivers to "Turn around, don't drown!"

In the area near Gladewater, Sabine Fire and Rescue is warning that Old Highway 135 is currently under six-inches of moving flood waters.
