JASPER, TX (KTRE) -

Officers with the Jasper Police Department arrested a 30-year-old man Tuesday night after he allegedly drove his pickup into another man’s vehicle as he was pointing a shotgun at the individual.

Martin Earl Reed, 30, of Jasper, is still being held in the Jasper County Jail on a third-degree felony unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon charge, a Class A misdemeanor deadly conduct charge, and a Class B misdemeanor failure to stop to give information and/or render aid. His collective bail amount has been set at $12,500.

According to a press release, a Jasper PD sergeant was dispatched to one of the apartments at 200 Myrtis Village at about 9 p.m. on Tuesday to speak to a man who said Reed was in the area even though he had a criminal trespass warning for that location and that he ran into a vehicle. The sergeant was also told that Reed displayed a gun and pointed it at someone on the property.

When the Jasper PD sergeant arrived at the scene, he spoke to the victim, who told him that while he was waiting at the apartment to see his girlfriend, Reed pulled up next to him in a blue Chevrolet S-10 pickup, pulled out a shotgun, and pointed it at him, the press release stated. In the process, Reed’s pickup allegedly struck the victim’s vehicle.

A short time later, a Jasper County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped Reed’s vehicle on High Truitt Road. A 20-gauge shotgun was found in Reed’s pickup, the press release stated.

Further investigation revealed that Reed is a convicted felon, the press release stated. He was arrested at the scene of the traffic stop and taken to the county jail.
