"We've taken everyone's best punch and are still here," said Midway head coach Jeff Hulme, "I think that's a good way of looking at it."
Midway will face Cy-Fair in the championship game Dec 23 at AT&T Stadium. Midway's had plenty of good teams before, but if the Panthers were to win, this would be the school's first football title.
"That puts a little something extra on us. Our guys want to be the first class to do it."
Surviving a Southlake Carroll rally and counting on Longview to miss a field goal punched Midway's ticket, but don't tell this team they're lucky.
"We work as hard as anyone. We just have to work to limit our mistakes."
Cy-Fair is no slouch either. The 14-0 Bobcats haven't given up more than 14 points to a team in these playoffs.
"It's going to be a good one. An all out battle."
Kickoff is scheduled for Dec 23 at 7:00 p.m..
