1. Texas DPS trooper dies after being struck by vehicle on I-35

Nov. 4:  Trooper Thomas Nipper was killed during a traffic stop when a pickup truck struck his unit resulting in a fiery crash. 

2. Correctional officer dies after use of force incident

June 9: Correctional officer Shana Tedder died after a confrontation where she had to use force with an offender at a female prison. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice said preliminary reports indicate Tedder died of natural causes. 

3. Fort Hood soldier among 20 people arrested in prostitution sting

Sept. 5: Thirteen Fort Hood soldiers were among 20 people arrested during a prostitution sting in Bell County. 

4. 6-vehicle crash on I-35 leaves 4-year-old and her mother dead

March 11: A crash involving six vehicles killed a 4-year-old girl, who died at the scene, and her mother 16 days later. 

5. Badly decomposed body found in car at vacant restaurant

Nov. 7: A badly decomposed body was found in a vehicle parked outside a vacant Jack in the Box in Waco.

6. Suspect charged with homicide on death of father, 4-year-old struck by houseboat

June 23: A man was arrested and charged with negligent homicide after he allegedly struck a 4-year-old girl with a houseboat. The girl's father tried to save her but was also hit by the boat. The 4-year-old died the day of the accident and her father died on July 6. 

7. 16-year-old dies in fiery car crash in Belton

July 29: 16-year-old Gentry Nelson was killed in a single-vehicle crash that caught fire on Interstate 35. 

8. Salado high school student dies in car accident

April 18: A Salado teen died weeks before graduation after a car accident in Cedar Park. A toxicology report later revealed that alcohol and drugs were in the system of the teen prior to the crash. 

9. Man dies after being hit by train, ruled an accident

April 2: A man died after slipping between train cars and being run over while trying to ride a non-passenger train. 

10. Man stabbed at Killeen Walmart

March 3: Killeen police said two store employees got into a fight resulting in one man stabbing the other. 

11. Two dead after shooting at Harker Heights club

 

March 4: Two men were shot and killed at a club in Harker Heights. The suspect was arrested in connection with the murders days after the shooting. 

12. Large fight breaks out at Killeen Mall

July 15: Eight people were arrested after a large fight broke out in the food court of the Killeen Mall. About 40 people were arrested and charged with riot after the altercation.

13. Police: Drunk driver hits, pins ETMC paramedic between ambulance and car

Aug. 19: An EMTC paramedic is recovering after being hit by a drunk driver while he was working a crash. The paramedic, Rory Barros, has since undergone at least fourteen surgeries and had his lower left leg amputated as a result.

14. Investigation underway after parents said principal told students to rub floor lick fingers

May 15: An investigation was conducted after parents say the principal told their children to rub the floor and lick their fingers as punishment.

15. Two dead in apparent murder-suicide on Lake Waco

July 21: A newly married couple was found dead in an apparent murder-suicide inside a houseboat on Lake Waco.

16. Mother and 1-year-old daughter found shot to death

Nov. 5: A mother and her 1-year-old daughter were found shot to death at Tradinghouse Creek Reservoir in Hallsburg. The father of the 1-year-old was arrested in connection with the double homicide.

17. Police say 'strong possibility' that alcohol or drugs played a factor in crash that killed 3

Nov. 19: Three people were killed in an overnight crash that police say there is strong possibility alcohol or drugs contributed to. 

18. 17 arrested in prostitution sting, one on his birthday

Sept 7: Fifteen men and two women were arrested after a three-day prostitution sting in Waco. One of the men was arrested on the weekend of his 32nd birthday.

19. Four arrested after children found covered in feces, sunburns

July 14: Four adults were arrested after police found three children covered in feces, sunburns and sagging soiled diapers. 

20. Deputies: Woman stabs 5-year-old to death

Jan 6: A woman was accused of stabbing a man and killing her 5-year-old daughter in Hays County. The 24-year-old woman is charged with capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. 

21. Wreck on SH 6 kills one, injures 5

March 15: A 19-year-old man was killed following a major crash on Highway 6. The wreck happened when a tire blew out of an SUV carrying six people, causing it to roll over multiple times. Five of the six were ejected from the vehicle. 

22. Baylor Kappa Sigma chapter suspected after 'racially insensitive party'

May 1: A Baylor fraternity came under fire after hosting a "Mexican Appropriation Party" where guests dressed as maids and construction workers. The party drew criticism after pictures appeared on social media. 

23. Killeen police issue more than 300 speeding tickets during special traffic enforcement

March 2: Killeen police gave more than 300 speeding tickets to drivers during a special traffic enforcement program along US Highway 190.

24. 16-year-old detained for shooting two other teens

Oct. 20: A 14-year-old and a 15-year-old were in the hospital after a shooting in Killeen. Police detained a 16-year-old for the incident when it was determined to be motivated by robbery. 

25. SPOOFING: Scammers using your own phone number to call you 

Sept. 15: Dozens of people across Central Texas received a call from their own phone number. The clever trick is called spoofing.
