A Texas attorney has put his hat in the McLennan County District Attorney Race, facing off with current DA Abel Reyna.

Republic Barry Johnson filed Thursday for the spot, saying that Reyna has "mishandled" the Twin Peaks case.

Johnson has 28 years of experience in state and federal courts. Johnson is from the Waco area and graduated in 1979 from Baylor University.

"I'm running because the citizens of McLennan County deserve better," said Johnson in a statement. "Justice is in jeopardy in McLennan County and I won't stand it...Abel Reyna has broken the public's trust."

Reyna has served as McLennan County DA since 2011.

The primary is on March 6.
