Two teenagers are in jail after they were caught trying to steal from open cars in the 100 block of Oney Hervey late Sunday night.

College Station police went to the area after receiving a call from a resident who reported two men walking through the parking lot and checking vehicle door handles. The resident witnessed the men inside of a vehicle at one point.

Officers saw one man attempting to open a car door when they arrived. He began running when he saw police but was quickly captured. The second suspect walked up to the officers after he was surrounded.

The suspects confessed to taking items from the vehicles. A small amount of property was found near one of the men and returned to its owner.

Many of the owners of the burglarized vehicles wanted to press charges.

The suspects were identified as 17-year-olds Anthony Roy Hopkins and David Steven Blair.

Police arrested the pair and charged Hopkins with criminal attempt burglary of a vehicle and burglary of a vehicle. Blair was charged with two counts of criminal attempt burglary of a vehicle, burglary of a vehicle and evading arrest.
