On Friday, the Itasca and Riesel game was forfeited due to a no-show from officials, according to the district.

The district said in a statement on Facebook that they apologize for what happened at the game, and they assure that the Riesel High School coaching staff followed procedure correctly when requesting officials. They added that it still doesn't take away from the disappointment of not being able to play the game.

Friday was also Riesel's senior night.

Riesel Football Coach Little said he received two phone calls from the Waco Chapter of Officials. The chapter president said he was unsure why officials were not present at the game. The chapter president contacted the assigning secretary for an explanation.

On Monday, the assigning secretary called Coach Little and apologized, saying the situation was an error on their end. The assigning secretary said they have two schedule checkers that go through all the football schedules, and both missed the Itasca and Riesel game.
