Over a dozen Waco city officials and media members took part in the first annual Fire Operations 101 Friday.

The event, hosted by the Waco Professional Firefighters Association Local 478, takes civilians through three different scenarios that firefighters face.

"Fire Ops 101 is a time for community stakeholders, elected officials and city leaders to see what firefighters do on a daily basis," Waco Fire Department Chief Bobby Tatum said.

The three scenarios participants learned were: search and rescue, vehicle extrication and the burn chamber.

Participants suited up in firefighting gear to learn the scenarios hands-on.
