Woman hit by car while assisting hit-and-run victim; police looking for suspects

Killeen Police are investigating two hit-and-runs that happened on the 1600 block of S. Fort Hood St. on Monday evening. 

Police said that they received a 911 call that said that two people had been hit by two different vehicles. When the officers arrived on the scene, they found a man and woman lying in the roadway. Both victims were 28 years old.

The man was sent to the hospital with life-threatening conditions, and the woman was sent to the hospital in serious but stable condition. 

Police said the preliminary investigation revealed the man was crossing the roadway east to west, a couple of feet behind the woman. An unknown vehicle was traveling southbound and struck the man and fled the scene. The woman ran to assist the male and was struck by a second vehicle. The second vehicle also hit the man again. 

This vehicle also fled the scene. 

Police said that one of the vehicles may have been a maroon or red 1990's model Toyota sedan.

As of Thursday, Nov. 2 the man remains in critical condition.
