UMHB men's golf earns top four finish

The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s golf team improved by 17 strokes and moved up one spot to post a fourth-place finish at the Abilene Intercollegiate Tuesday in Abilene. The Cru shot the third lowest score of the final round to move up in the team standings.

 

UMHB carded a 312-295=607 to take fourth place, finishing one stroke ahead of Texas Lutheran’s fifth-place total of 309-299=608. Concordia Texas won the team title by posting a 286-291=577. Tournament host Hardin-Simmons University took second place with a 301-299=600 and Southwestern University’s 308-293=601 was good for third place. Eight teams competed in the event.

 

Kade Bentley recorded the low individual finish for UMHB by taking seventh place with a 75-73=148. Bryce Parker matched the lowest score of the final round with a two-under 69 and tied for eighth place by carding an 80-69=149. Parker Love shot 81-75=156 to tie for 20th place, Cade Govender tied for 23rdplace after recording a 76-81=157 and Kyle Revis shot 81-78=159 to tie for 28th place. Concordia’s Ryan McGinley won individual medalist honors after posting 70-70=140.

 

The two-day, 36-hole event was played on a par-71, 6,977-yard layout at Diamondback Golf Club in Abilene. The tournament closes out the fall schedule for the UMHB men.
