Meet the man behind the Midway mascot mask.

Kade Perry is a senior at Midway High School. His friends know him as Kade, but on Friday nights he is known as Jake the Panther.

Kade is the mascot for Midway and is responsible for pumping up fans as they cheer on the undefeated 7th ranked Midway High School Football Team. Kade has a passion for mascoting and everyone around him can see that.

“Whenever you get around him, his smile, his laugh, his zest for life, his desire to please other kids, make them smile, it really shows through."

"He welcomes the girls every morning, it’s a nice break for us to feed off of his energy and his spirit," said Lindsay Reagan, a Midway cheerleading coach.

Kade has faced challenges but he hasn't let that define him.

"Kade was born with Hydrocephalus, water on the brain. He's gone through 16 surgeries, he’s also blind in one eye but he’s overcome all of those obstacles to be the young man he is today," said Kade's father Wesley.

Not only is Kade the Midway Panthers mascot, but he's also Chuck E. at Chuck E. Cheese. He's also a Special Olympics athlete.

After graduation, Kade has some big aspirations, including hoping to be Bruiser, the mascot for Baylor University.
