A man is facing multiple charges after two separate incidents in Bellmead.
Bellmead police said that on May 29, a 54-year-old woman reported that she was assaulted by Russell Johnson, 51, at a hotel on the 1400 block of New Dallas Highway. The victim said that Johnson took her phone and sexually assaulted her. She was unable to leave the room unless Johnson was with her. The victim was able to get to a neighbor and get to the hospital.
On Oct. 7, Bellmead police said that a disturbance occurred on the 1000 block of Hogan Lane. Police said that a 57-year-old woman and Johnson got in an argument over beer. When the victim refused to get Johnson another beer, he threw her down and strangled her. The victim was able to escape and ran outside, where a neighbor called the police.
Johnson was taken into custody for multiple charges including assault strangulation, sexual assault, interference with an emergency phone call and unlawful restraint.
Johnson is being held at the McLennan County Jail.
