Highlassies finish in sixth place at SHSU Invitational

The McLennan Highlassies shot 310-309-315 – 934 to finish in sixth place in the SHSU Bearkats Women's Invitational at the Ravens Nest Golf Club in Huntsville.

Houston Baptist and Sam Houston State finished tied for first place with 303-288-300 – 891 and 295-297-299 – 891, respectively. Sam Houston State was awarded the team trophy based on a tiebreaker, and Stephen F. Austin finished in third with 305-298-307 – 910.

Sophomores Alejandra Rodriguez shot 74-78-77 – 229 to lead the Highlassies and finish tied for 13th place individually.

Other MCC scores: sophomore Makenna Davidson, tied for 16th, 76-76-78 – 230; Tyler Morrison, tied for 21st, 79-76-79 – 234; sophomore Joely Henderson, tied for 38th, 81-80-81 – 242; and freshman Briana Venegas, tied for 40th, 81-79-84 – 244.

Other team scores: Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, fourth, 312-310-308 – 930; Incarnate Word, fifth, 313-305-314 – 932; Alabama State, seventh, 318-309-318 – 945; McNeese State, eighth, 317-310-327 – 954; Oklahoma City, tied for ninth, 323-311-332 – 966; Western Texas, tied for ninth, 323-329-314 – 966; and Texas Southern, 11th, 338-339-363 – 1,040.
