The Texas Department of Public Safety said that a DPS patrol unit was rear-ended while troopers were investigating a non-injury crash on I-35.

The two troopers who were inside the unit were taken to Hillcrest. DPS said both troopers are okay and are being released from the hospital.

DPS said that the vehicle that hit the unit hyrdoplaned in the rain. The unit was parked on the inside shoulder with all emergency lights activated.

The 40-year-old driver of the vehicle was not injured.

They said it is unknown if the driver will face charges at this time.

The accident happened on I-35 near mile marker 343 in Elm Mott on Tuesday afternoon.

TxDOT said there were multiple vehicles involved in the initial accident. The area is now cleared.
