A man was seriously hurt and flown to a hospital after crashing into an unoccupied DPS Trooper vehicle in Limestone County.

A DPS Trooper was on U.S. 84 near FM 2681 around 1:45 a.m. Sunday investigating a minor crash.

A tow truck was in the process of loading the crashed car as the Trooper spoke to the driver on the shoulder of the highway away from his vehicle.

Troopers said a Chevrolet pick-up truck traveling on US 84 hit the DPS trooper vehicle from the back, which was unoccupied, and crashed it into the tow truck.

The trooper, other driver and tow truck driver were not hurt.

The male driver who hit the DPS vehicle was seriously injured and flown to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Hillcrest.

Officials said alcohol could have played a part in the crash of the truck hitting the DPS unit.

The accident is under investigation.
