Morgan's Point Resort Chief to take job at Constable's office

The Morgan's Point Resort Police chief announced he would retire at the end of this week. 

On a letter he submitted to the city council, Fred Churchill said he "no longer allow myself to be associated with the business practices of City Staff."

Churchill who had been chief since March of 2011 accepted a position as a deputy constable at Bell County Pct. 2.

State Game Warden with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for nearly 30 years with the last 10 of those being a Game Warden Captain. He also served on the Morgan's Point Resort City Council from 1997 to 2002.

On Thursday, a reception will be held at the MPR Community Center for Churchill from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

MPR City Manager said Lt. Charles Cline who was hired in 2012 at MPR will be acting chief until a new chief takes the position. He added the city will start the recruitment process for a new chief in the first part of October.
