While people across the nation are reacting to the National Anthem protests put forth by some NFL players, one Central Texas veteran is sharing his thoughts.

Joel Childress served in the United States Army from 1995 to 2015. He said while he not only fought for people's rights, including the right to sit or stand when they want, he doesn't agree with what's happening now.

Childress, a Purple Heart Veteran, added he understands the point they are trying to make but thinks there's a better way of going about it.

"I was able to go fight to give them the right to be able to do that" Childress said. "That's a sacred moment to acknowledge myself, my comrades and every other past soldier that has their life for our country. I mean, I understand what they are saying and I understand what they are doing I just think it's wrong place, wrong time."

News Channel 25 took to Facebook to hear more of what Central Texas think of the protests.
