Victim in Temple homicide identified, 15-year-old in custody for murder

The suspect involved in a homicide investigation is now in custody and the victim has been identified.

Temple police identified the victim as Josh Colby Mitchell, 31, of Temple.  

Officers responded to the 2200 Block of E. Young Avenue at 6 p.m. Mitchell's wife had come home and discovered him deceased. 

Police were searching for a 2014 Silver Volkswagen Jetta. Police said the suspect is a 15-year-old juvenile. 

At 10:03 p.m. Wednesday night, officers were pursuing a suspect vehicle driving east bound on Hwy 53 before losing sight of the vehicle. Shortly after, officers were called to a crash involving the vehicle. They learned a citizen detained the juvenile and officers took him into custody when they arrived. 

The teen is being held for murder at Bell County Juvenile Detention Center. 

The investigation is still ongoing.
