A Robinson woman won $2.5 million after buying a scratch ticket last week at a Robinson convenience store.
Brenda Baker bought the winning 100X The Cash ticket at Pit Stop located at 211 S. Robinson Road. She claimed a third of four top prizes of $2.5 million. The retailer who sold it will get a $10,000 bonus from it and a sign that shows the ticket was sold there.
Pit Stop Manager Sushil Atreya said more people have been coming to the store asking for that specific scratch ticket after hearing about her win.
"I couldn't believe I sold a jackpot and the customer couldn't believe she got the jackpot [either]," Atreya said.
He added that Baker started scratching off the ticket in her car but came back to the store because she was in disbelief when she saw she had won $100,000.
"She kept scratching. The more she scratched, the more money and then all got freaked out. All the people here added to 2.5 million. She was about to get a heart attack. I guess," he said.
The 21-year-old who said 60 percent of the sales come from lottery tickets, said he is thankful for the customers in Robinson.
"This all goes to the Robinson people who play all the time and come here," Atreya said.
Customer Ashoantee Neal who buys scratch off tickets occasionally said she plans on buying them at this store to see if she can also become a millionaire.
Anytime that I may come here and are feeling lucky, I may get a scratch off just to see if I win. I'll definitely continue," Neal said.
According to the Texas Lottery, Baker requested minimal publicity regarding her win.
