Former McLennan Community College golfer Jerry Smith was inducted into the Iowa Golf Association’s Hall of Fame June 13 at the Hyperion Field Club in Johnston, Iowa, joining his brother Jeff, who was inducted in 2013. The pair became the first duo of brothers to enter the Hall of Fame.

As a Highlander, Jerry Smith claimed the NJCAA Individual Championship in 1984 and led MCC to the school’s first NJCAA Men’s Golf National Championship that same year. He went on to be an All-Southwest Conference player at Baylor University, and he played on the PGA Tour for five years and the European Senior Tour for a year. He joined the PGA Tour of Champions in 2015 and was named the PGA Champions Tour Player of the Year that year. He is currently in his third season on the tour.
