On Tuesday, a nonprofit organization in Waco announced the purchase of a building, which used to house a recently closed liquor store and two other vacant storefronts in the 1500 block of Colcord Avenue.

Mission Waco Board of Directors and staff gathered to celebrate the milestone. Executive Director Jimmy Dorrell said a donor bought the building for $125,000.

"It's a deep sense of we finally got the final piece of a broken neighborhood and now we have the possibility of seeing it changed and wanted changes," Dorrell said.

He added the group doesn't have the funds to renovate or concrete plans for its use. He said the organization would ask for input from the community first. However, one of the options could be a retail center.
