A sailor from the Gatesville area that went missing in Norfolk, Virginia has been found safe according to his mother's Facebook page.

Kathy Brady posted on Facebook that her son, Gage Brady, was found and that she was on her way to Colorado to pick him up.

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service said they have been notified by the Colorado Springs Police Department that Gage Brady turned himself in, and is in the Colorado Springs police custody.

When questioned about his absence, Brady told the Colorado Springs police he just decided to drive to Colorado and gave his phone to an unknown individual so he would not be tracked.

According to Lt. Mike Hatfield, a Public Relations Officer with the Navy, said that sailors who are "absent from their appointed place of duty without proper authorization are required to return to duty immediately."

Brady went missing on June 11.

He had last been seen Sunday night leaving the ship in Virginia around 10:30 p.m.

According to his mother, his phone was found outside a convenience store near the base, but the person who found the phone responded in a group chat before blocking everyone and apparently keeping the phone.

The report stated that Brady left naval base at 10:30 p.m. on June 11. The Naval Criminal Investigative Service contacted police after Brady did not return.

Brady graduated from Gatesville High School in 2015.
