Temple Police arrest man linked to homicide case

Temple Police arrested a man who is linked to the murder of an elderly man on Wednesday.

According to Temple Police, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division identified 46-year-old Juan Antonio Macias as the suspect in the murder of Lonnie Taplin on May 7, 2017.

On June 20, the Bell County Grand Jury issued an indictment for Macias for capital murder with intent to commit another felony.

Macias was located in Belton, where he was taken into custody by Temple Police on Wednesday.

On May 7, 2017, police were called to a residence near Adams Avenue and Blackfoot Drive where Taplin was found dead.

Police said the man died of blunt force trauma.

Police also said there was apparent forced entry into the home.
