A new canine and partner are coming to Waco's Department of Public Safety station.

Three troopers and canines graduated from an eight-week training program.

"DPS canine teams bring specialized skills to law enforcement," said DPS director Steven McCraw in a release. “These three expertly trained Troopers and dogs are a welcome addition to our program, and the state of Texas will be a safer place with them on the job defending our communities from a variety of threats.”

Renegade is a Belgian Malinois and will be used for drug detection at the Waco DPS station.

One of the dogs was obtained from the U.S. Department of Defense and the others were from donations.
