Two arrested after leading police on multi-county chase

Two people are in jail after leading police on a chase through several counties. 

Gatesville Police tried to stop two motorcycles on U.S. 84 on Thursday at 3:25 p.m. Police had received calls about motorcycles driving recklessly. 

One driver did not stop and tried to evade arrest, traveling westbound on U.S. 84. The driver and passenger, identified as Aaron Carpenter, 35, and Ashley Beeson, 27, continued to evade arrest, driving westbound through Hamilton County and through Goldthwaite. 

The Texas Department of Public Safety assisted Gatesville PD in trying to stop the motorcycles. 

The motorcycle developed mechanical problems and stopped just west of Goldthwaite. 

Carpenter and Beeson were arrested without incident. 

Carpenter was taken to Coryell County Jail for evading using a vehicle and unlawfully carrying a weapon. Beeson is being held at Coryell County Jail on a Bell County driving while intoxicated arrest warrant.
