ARLINGTON, TX (KXXV) -

On Thursday, the Cleveland Browns selected former Texas A&M University defensive end Myles Garrett with the top overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Garrett is the first Texas A&M football player to ever be selected first in the NFL draft.

The draft was in Philadelphia but Garrett stayed in Arlington with family.

"He is very deserving and worthy of this honor," said Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin. "He is an outstanding football player, a terrific teammate and an even better person. We are very proud of Myles."
