McLennan baseball moves up to No. 2 NJCAA poll

The McLennan Highlanders jumped one spot to second in the NJCAA Division I Baseball Rankings released today. The Highlanders have an overall record of 40-7 and are 21-3 in conference play.

Dyersburg State (Tennessee) moved into the top spot this week with a record of 40-4. Chipola (Florida) fell to third with a 40-8 record. Chattahoochee Valley (Alabama) is fourth with a 38-9 record followed by Crowder (Missouri) in fifth at 41-10.

Three of McLennan’s Region V opponents are also ranked. Midland moved up four spots to 11th with a record 36-12, and Grayson moved up one spot to 13th at 29-10. Odessa is 20th with a 36-11 record. Panola (36-9) from Region XIV at 14th is the only other Texas school in the poll. San Jacinto is receiving votes.

The Highlanders host Temple for a conference doubleheader at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bosque River Ballpark and will complete the four-game series with the Leopards with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday in Temple.
