The Woodway Public Safety Department said that they are receiving reports of a new phone scam in the area.

Police said that in most cases, the caller claims to be the child or grandchild. The caller will say they have been arrested in another state or have had a car accident.

The caller will request for them to buy prepaid credit cards and provide the card's number to them.

Police asks that if you receive a call similar to this, or if you question the validity of any type of a call requesting personal or financial information, please contact the department at 254-772-4470 before acting upon any request.
