The No. 13/15 Baylor Lady Bears (36-9, 9-3 Big 12) makes the quick turnaround trip to Beaumont, Texas, to take on the Lamar Cardinals (23-23, 13-8 Southland) on Tuesday, April 25, at 4 p.m. at the LU Softball Complex.
For this, and all other Baylor softball games, there will be an online radio broadcast, available exclusively to subscribers on BaylorBears.com/allaccess.
Lamar offers a free live video stream of the game, which can be accessed on LamarCardinals.com.
Baylor will play Lamar in the final nonconference regular season game of the 2017 season, leading into two Big 12 weekend series: Oklahoma State (April 28-30 in Waco) and Texas (May 5 in Waco, May 6-7 in Austin).
The Lady Bears and Lady Cardinals will meet for the second time in 2017, with Baylor taking the previous meeting on Feb. 18 in the Getterman Classic in Waco, 5-3. Baylor jumped out to an early lead, holding off a two-run seventh inning rally to secure the win.
Baylor is 11-0 all-time against Lamar, including 2-0 in games played in Beaumont. The teams have not met on the Lady Cardinals’ home turf since 1983, with Baylor sweeping the doubleheader.
Baylor is fresh off a weekend series at No. 8 Oklahoma, with Baylor taking the middle game of the three-game series. The Lady Bears are third in the Big 12 standings behind a two-way tie for first place between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
Baylor is 8-1 this season in midweek games and 8-7 in true road games.
The Lady Bears have two players qualified as national award finalists: Lindsey Cargill (USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year) and Shelby “Goose” McGlaun (NFCA National Freshman of the Year).
