Lockdown lifted at two Killeen elementary campuses after police activity in the area

KILLEEN, TX (KXXV) -

Killeen ISD said two elementary campuses initiated an external lockdown due to police activity nearby.

Harker Heights elementary school initiated an external lockdown while police investigated a disturbance near the campus at 11:50 a.m.

The lockdown ended after law enforcement received an all clear at 12:25 p.m.

Killeen ISD said that East Ward Elementary School was placed in an external lockdown due to police activity near the campus.

The lockdown was lifted at 2:05 p.m. when officers gave the all clear notice.

In both incidents, students and staff were safe on campus. Parents have been notified of the incidents.
