Funeral arrangements made for Salado student who died in crash

Funeral arrangements have been made for a Salado High School senior who died in a crash in Cedar Park Monday night. 

Police said that Victoria Dekay, 17, was in the car with another teen when the single-vehicle accident happened on Monday night. A witness to the accident said the vehicle drifted to the right for some unknown reason, hit a barrier and rolled over. 

The autopsy revealed that Dekay died of blunt trauma.

Dekay was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. The other teen was transported to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center with serious injuries. He is now is good condition.

Investigators believe that Dekay was driving during the accident. They also added that the teens were not wearing seatbelts.

The accident happened on 183A toll road near Park St. Bridge. Police are trying to find out who was driving the SUV and what prompted the accident.

Dekay planned to go to Texas State after graduating in a few weeks.

The services will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Temple Bible Church. The church is located at 3205 Oakview in Temple. 

There will be no visitation and the burial will be private. 

According to her obituary, DeKay played volleyball and was on the honor roll.
