MARYSVILLE, WA (KIRO/CNN) – A Washington state mother is looking for answers after her 2-year-old escaped his daycare and nearly walked into busy traffic.

Brittaney Landry says her son Eoin lived up to his nickname, Little Houdini, last week when he slipped through a child’s door at daycare before two workers could stop him.

"He will get out of anything you try to keep him in,” Landry said.

The mother says the daycare didn’t come completely clean about the incident until she read on Facebook that a good Samaritan stopped Eoin from walking onto a busy street.

"He was looking over the curb, and she passed by him and turned her car around and came back and…ran across two lanes of traffic… and picked my son up. And (she) was looking around… for somebody, not knowing why this 2-year-old was on the side of the road at 8:00 at night in the dark,” Landry said.

The daycare says one worker was fired and the others got additional training. They say the children’s safety is the daycare’s highest priority.

Landry credits the good Samaritan with saving her son’s life.

"I honestly, truly feel in my heart that if she had not stopped her car and picked my son up that he would have gotten hit by a car,” she said.

Landry says she has pulled her two children out of the daycare.

State documents reveal the daycare in question has a good record.
