The annual "Blood Wars" between all four Killeen ISD high schools kicked off Wednesday.

Anyone over the age of 17 who weighs over 110 lbs is eligible to donate blood. That includes all staff, students, parents and community members.

Each donation is just one pint and could end up saving two lives.

The annual blood drive helps Scott & White during the summer when the rate of accidents is high and donors are low.

"Scott & White actually provides blood to all of Central Texas. We keep it within our community," Scott & White Blood Center Recruiter Julie Skoda said. "So, we try to keep close ties with businesses and things in our district to give back to our community."

Scott & White Blood Center will be at Shoemaker High School again Thursday.

They will visit Killeen High School on April 25th and 26th and Ellison High School on May 10th and 11th. They will finish up this year's "Blood Wars" at Harker Heights High School on May 17th and 18th.
