Five children were taken to St. Joseph Hospital after being injured in an accident in Bryan, Tuesday afternoon.

At the intersection of East MLK and the West frontage road of N Earl Rudder Freeway, a Tahoe with 9 occupants and a Monte Carlo with one occupant collided. In the Tahoe were five adults who were wearing seat belts and four children who were not wearing seat belts. None of the adults were hurt but all of the children were.

One 8-year-old and one 9-year-old were ejected from the Tahoe. The 8-year-old is suffering from injuries considered non-life threatening while the 9-year-old is in serious condition and waiting to be transported to McLane Children's Hospital. The 17-year-old driver of the Monte Carlo also has serious injuries.

It isn't clear who had the right of way, but police cited both drivers. The driver of the Tahoe received 5 citations for unrestrained passengers, the driver of the Monte Carlo was cited for not having a driver's license.

The investigation is ongoing, we will update this story as we receive new information.
