A robbery suspect is behind bars after trying to rob a convenience store in Waco.

Police say that Roosevelt Davis Jr. entered the Stripes located on the 2400 block of Robinson Drive demanding cash and wielding a knife.

The clerk refused to open the cash drawer and didn't have access to the safe. Davis then grabbed $150 worth of scratch off tickets and fled.

A Waco police officer was nearby and spotted Davis. Davis attempted to jump a fence and escape into an apartment complex on Primose Dr.

The officer chased Davis and apprehended him.

Davis was in possession of methamphetamine and Xanax pills. He was charged with possession of drugs and aggravated robbery.

No one was injured during the incident.
