TxDOT's US 190 expansion project requires speed limits to be reduced.

The expansion project will add one lane on either side of the highway to add to the highway's capacity. Work will also be done to the frontage roads.

While construction is going on, the speed limit is reduced to 65 miles per hour by TxDOT.

TxDOT has completed construction from Copperas Cove to Harker Heights.

The City of Harker Heights recently had their speed limit jump back up to 75 miles per hour as it was before construction.

But, through a process called Council Resolution, a city in coordination with TxDOT, can change the speed limit of US 190 to fit the city's needs.

The City of Killeen went through the process to lower their stretch of US 190 to 60 miles per hour.

As US 190 expansion project continues east toward I-35, the speed limits may continue to change.

The City of Nolanville may experience a reduced speed within the next year to accommodate the construction crews. TxDOT's Ken Roberts said the speed limit will not be reduced unnecessarily however.
