KILLEEN, TX (KXXV) -

A new bill could possibly ban red light cameras statewide.

Senate Bill 88 would ban red light cameras in Texas.

The State Senate just passed it, but the House and Governor Abbott still have to weigh-in.

"I am all about following the law, but to me a red-light camera ticket in the mail is a violation of my constitutional rights to due process," Killeen resident Charlie Lumpkins said. "I got a ticket on the corner of 190 and W.S. Young."

But it wasn't an officer that gave Lumpkins that ticket rather a red light camera.

Killeen's cameras are already coming down following a city council vote a few weeks ago.

It's unclear if the ban will pass in the State House and if Governor Abbott will sign it.
