Baylor softball pitcher Kelsee Selman was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week, announced Tuesday by the conference office.

For Selman, the senior pitcher had a busy week in the circle, appearing in all four of Baylor’s games. Selman would go 3-1, overall, and 3-0 in games she started. Her lone loss came in relief in the bottom of the 10th frame at Iowa State.

The Lufkin, Texas, native was second in the Big 12 on the week with a 0.91 ERA, despite being the only pitcher in the conference to eclipse 20.0 innings of work.

Selman also matched her season-high strikeout mark, fanning 10 in a complete game win over Kansas on March 26.

She led the Big 12 in wins (3), innings pitched (23.0), strikeouts (31), appearances (4), games started (3), and complete games (2). Additionally, Selman finished the week with the second highest strikeouts/game, averaging 9.43, and the fifth-lowest opponent batting average, allowing only a .146 hitting mark.

The award is the second for the senior, in her second season at Baylor after transferring from LSU. Selman previously double-dipped for both Big 12 and national pitcher of the week on March 7. She is the first and only player to earn two weekly honors this season.

Selman is Baylor’s second Big 12 Pitcher of the Week for 2017, giving Baylor four total awards through the first seven weeks of the season, tying for the most in the conference.
