One of the victims killed in an attack in London was a former Waco resident.

The victim, Kurt Cochran, was killed in an attack at the British Parliament on Wednesday.

The AP reported that the Islamic State group claimed responsibility and the attacker, Khalid Masood, 52, had driven into a crowd of pedestrians on a London bridge. Masood was later shot to death by police.

Sandy Murphy, the sister of Cochran, confirmed to News Channel 25 that Cochran had lived in Waco. Cochran attended Midway High School and had traveled to London to celebrate his marriage anniversary with his wife.

The family released a statement this afternoon.

"Our family is deeply saddened to learn of the death of my brother, Kurt Cochran in Wednesdays terror attack in London. His wife, Melissa, and he were celebrating 25 years of marriage there. They were scheduled to fly home to Utah today. Melissa is still in the hospital. Kurt and Melissa had a love for each other that made most envious. He was a great guy, didn't know a stranger. She is in the hospital in London with a broken leg and ribs but expected to fully recover from her injuries. He has two boys who are devastated by his tragic death."

The other victims were identified as Officer Keith Palmer, 48 and Aysha Frade.
