Highlassies sweep Cisco

The McLennan Highlassies swept the Cisco Lady Wranglers in today's conference doubleheader at Bosque River Ballpark.

McLennan defeated Cisco 6-1 in game one with Lizzie Donaldson getting the win in the circle.

The Highlassies began the scoring with one run in the bottom of the first as Dariann Resendez walked, advanced around to third on an error and scored on a line drive by Theresa Gonzales.

McLennan added two runs in the third. Resendez drew another walk and Victoria Gonzales singled. Both runners advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Theresa Gonzales. Resendez scored on another Cisco error that put Serena Saldivar on first. Victoria Gonzales then scored on a line drive by Elizabeth Svienty.

The final three Highlassies' runs came in the bottom of the fifth. Zayra Olguin singled, Haley Webre was hit by the pitch and Estrella Guardiola bunted to load the bases. Angie Camacho was safe at first on a Lady Wrangler error bringing Olguin in to score. Webre and Guardiola both scored on a single by Victoria Gonzales.

Cisco's only run came in the top of the sixth as Kahlie Barrett singled and came all the way around to score on a McLennan error.

McLennan took game two 4-2 with Victoria Vasquez getting the win in the circle.

Cisco struck first with two runs in the top of the first inning. Kynslee Noriega led off with a single and moved to second on a McLennan error. Mariah Gomez  and Barrett both singled. Noriega scored on an overthrow and Gomez was out at the plate. Barrett moved around to third on a fielder's choice by Mackenzie Anderson and scored on another overthrow.

The Highlassies tied the game with two runs in the fourth as Theresa Gonzales doubled and scored on a home run by Svienty.

McLennan sealed the win with two runs in the sixth. Svienty was safe at first and moved to second on an error, then advanced to third on a ground out by Olguin. Webre drew a walk and stole second. Guardiola singled to score Svienty and Webre scored on an error that put Camacho on first.

The Highlassies continue conference play on Saturday traveling to Temple for a noon doubleheader.
