Baylor Women's Basketball defeat Texas Southern 119-30

WACO, TX (KXXV) -

For the Lady Bears, the journey to their third national title begins in Waco. The 1 seed Baylor Lady Bears faced the 16 seed Texas Southern Tigers in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday evening. This is the second consecutive season that Baylor enters the tournament as the No. 1 seed, and the fifth overall.

Baylor opened the game on a 22-0 run, and they kept that momentum going throughout the game. Senior Alexis Jones made her return to the court after missing multiple games with a bone bruise.

The Lady Bears won 119-30, breaking a NCAA Women’s Basketball record. Their 89 point win is the largest in women’s tournament history. 

The Lady Bears will face off the winner of the LSU-California game on Monday.
